Abstract
The shock-absorber is of the piston type, the cylinder being secured at one end to one component, while the piston rod passes through the other and is attached to the second component. In the chamber between the piston crown and the end of the cylinder is a compensation chamber sealed off from the chamber, and whose volume automatically increases and reduces with that of the cylinder chamber. The compensating chamber can be a gas-filled bellows of elastic material, and secured to the piston over a very small portion of its surface. In the outer position of the piston it can bear against the cylinder wall, the slight friction occurring causing it to assume an oval shape.
