Abstract

The magneto-restrictive type of pick-up element has a nickel iron film (2) with gold terminals (3, 4) attached and an assembly of gold strips (5,5',5",5'",5"") which make an angle of 135 deg. with the magnetisation direction M. The influence of the equipotential strips under the current I produces a magnetic field in the orthogonal direction H. The strips make a pattern with the main backing of the form of a "barbers pole". In use the element may be connected to an amplifier through a coupling capacitor. The field strength of the magnetic tracking is augmented by the coercive field strength of the material.
