Abstract

The lighter comprises a glow body heated by an electric current (1), with a handle (5) clear of the body and a connection (6, 7) to the electric supply in the handle. The body is inserted in the fireplace so as to come in contact with the fuel to be ignited, it can comprise a loop-shaped tube containing an electrical resistance element, the portions not accommodating the element being attached to the handle, whose axis can be inclined to the plane of the loop. A support (11) can be provided near the handle to hold the loop clear of the floor when not in use.
