Abstract

Folding machine for successively folding bed sheets of varying format longitudinally and transversely then stacking the folded sheets, the construction of the machine being capable of adaptation not only for the desired dimensions of the completely folded sheet but also for the quality of the rotary ironer supplying the sheets, with observation of only the minimum dimension of ca. 1.50m not only for the smallest length to be folded but also of the width, the machine comprising (a) a transport device for bringing the sheets from the ironer to a flat surface on which two-piece reciprocating rolls function as the longitudinal folding unit, after which a further transport unit brings the thus formed elongated package between the two prongs of a fork with a clamping device rtatable round it own axis, and this equipment forming the transverse folder gives the sheet its final format and (b) a discharge device consisting of a pair of vertical rods, mounted adjacently to a movable belt for the further transport of the stacks to be made, the height of which is adjustable. Provides a partic. compact sheet-folding installation giving large savings on initial cost, erection and use as well as saving building space.
