Abstract

The splice is in the form of a sleeve pressed against the rope, and the axial bore is of the same diameter for its entire length, although the wall thickness is least at the centre and greatest at the ends. The sleeve is a malleable plastic and when compressed over ropes there is provided a regular distribution of material, unlike in similar constant thickness sleeves where material tends to accumulate towards the centre. The bore may be in the form of a rounded oblong and the splice used to form rope loops.
