Abstract

A fermentation and storage tank of large size and conventional cylindrical shape with usual fittings for prodn. of beer has a draw-off device comprising a pipe projecting into the interior of the vessel, with its inlet end adjustable in height so as to be always half-way between the surface of the liquid and the bottom of the tank. Specifically, the pipe end is maintained at this level by a 2:1 tackle, the standing end of which is anchored to the top of the vessel, the pulley being attached to the inlet end of the pipe and the running end attached to a float. The draw-off is continuously effected from the half depth of the liquid, thus achieving uniform quality.
