Abstract

Fuel is delivered to the nozzle by a pump, the quantity being regulated dependent on the pressure in the inlet manifold via a measuring chamber. When the engine is cold a shutter is opened, and there is an air inlet for extra air communicating with the intake and also the measuring chamber. A pipe delivers the extra air from the inlet to the chamber, short-circuiting the manifold. Thus pressure in the chamber rises above that in the manifold, causing the fuel regulator to supply a larger quantity. The polytetrafluorethene coated piston of the pump, is coupled via a leaf spring to a wedge.
