Cladding construction e.g. for walls, ceilings etc., comprises wooden planks having grooves in the lateral edges, pref. on both edges, in which strips are inserted bridging over the spacing provided between adjacent planks. As compared with the more usual tongue and groove construction, the use of strips, particularly of somewhat elastic material, prevents either bowing of the planks due to expansion or the appearance of gaps due to shrinkage of the timber. The strips are pref. made of PVC.
