Abstract

The vessel is of the type having a deck cargo space (5) and an elevated rail (1) for a travelling crane space (5) forms the boundary of the deck cargo cargo area. Outside the inboard boundary of the rail (3) the hull (8) of the vessel is elevated to the level of the rail so as to form deck sections with elevated freeboard whilst leaving the cargo deck (5) at the initial height. Watertight trunks (9) may be provided through the elevated sections for coater drainage. There may be longitudinal bulkheads (10) inboard, in line with the elevated deck sections.
