Abstract

Spraying of metal articles with a layer of metal and the subsequent fusing-in of the sprayed-on layer using a heating burner by heating a part of the surface of the layer of the size of the burner flame, measuring the infra-red radiation of the heated zone and continuing the heating of that zone until the infra-red emission has reached a pre-determined value. The reqd. heat treatment of the sprayed on coating is achieved automatically, thereby largely eliminatng exposure of workers to intense thermal radiation as well as bringing about a general improvement in quality.
