Abstract

The container (1) is floated into the mechanism, which lifts it above the water level. Digging means (6) are provided for removing the bulk material from the container, means to move the digger longitudinally relative to the container, and a conveyor arm (7) to transport the bulk material from the digger to the bulk carrier (2). The mechanism may comprises two longitudinal portions (3, 4) arranged catamaran-fashion and held apart by one or more transverse elements (5) carrying the rigger and conveyor arm, the lifting means being capable of travelling along the pontoons. The lifting means may comprises two sets of travelling supports (29a, b; 39a, b) and U-shaped yokes (32, 33) capable of being lifted by winches (34), hydraulic cylinders or similar means.
