Abstract

Machine prodn. of bricks having the appearance of hand moulded bricks, comprises opt. applying a layer of sand or another release agent; filling the moulds with base matl. esp. clay; and pressing, the clay masses being released and discharged to a drying or firing appts. The mould is coated, prior to filling with clay, with a layer of an expanding plastic matl. the moulted mass together with the plastic layer being released, and the layer burnt off in the drying and/or firing appts. The plastic gives a random external pattern on the brick.
