Abstract

Title copolymer is prepd. by copolymerising anhydrous formaldehyde with a cyclic ether of formula I, or formula II, in an inert org. solvent in the presence of a metal chelate cpd. and a Lewis acid. (where R is H, alkyl, alkenyl, or aryl; n is 2-6; n and m is 1-3). Efficient process giving copolymers with a satisfactory mol. wt. for practical use. Basic stability of more than 95%. Good thermal stability.
