Abstract
Glass fibre reinforced plastic panels of extended length are formed in a process which includes the steps of spraying a mould surface with a mixture of resin, catalyst and glass fibres, imparting to the jet an alternating motion with minimum stationary time across the whole width of the panel, and a translational motion at a constant speed along the length of the panel. The mixture is then hardened in the mould. Panels 100ft long and 40ft. wide can be made without hand spraying and of uniform thickness, in 1/2 hr. The process is carried out in an extended flat mould, the spraying device being subjected to a transverse alternating motion and a longitudinal slow motion by a moving table. Alternating motion is along a transverse bar.
