Abstract

Process comprises reacting the charge stock and H2 at 350-650 degrees F, 200-500 p.s.i.g., a H2 circulation rate of 3000-20,000 s.c.f./bbl. and an LHSV of 1-10, in contact with a Friedel-Crafts metal halide-free catalytic composite of 0.1-2.0% Pt and the reaction product of alumina and sublimed AlCl3 which has been prepd. by reacting the sublimed AlCl3 with a performed calcined composite of Pt and alumina, and then heating at >300 degrees C until unreacted AlCl3 is removed.
