Abstract
Shaped carbon resistance has a conducting inner core consisting of finely divided gas black and SiO2 powder dispersed in a resin, and an outer cover consisting of SiO2 powder dispersed in a resin, at least one of these silicon dioxide powders having been heated to a temp. between 700 degrees C and 1500 degrees C. The electric resistance and other electrical properties, and the soldering properties of the resistance are very stable under very moist conditions, as a result of the heating of the SiO2 powder. The resin may be a phenolic, melamine, silicone or epoxy resin.
