Abstract

Metal complex dyes are used to dye polyamide fibres from non-aqs. solvents at 15-120 degrees C. The fibres may be in the form of threads, flat goods and textiles. Dyeing may be batchwise or continuous. The non-aqs. solvent is particularly a chlorinated hydrocarbon. The final stages in the prepn. of the dye, necessary if the dye is to be used from an aqs. bath, can be omitted. Better utilisation of the dye, esp. in a batch process, is obtained. The dye has improved fastness in the wet state. A wider range of dyes becomes available for dyeing from non-aqs. baths.
