Abstract

Acylguanidines of formula (I): where R' = H, Cl or Me, R2 = Cl or Me, and R3, R4 and R5 = H or (1-6C) alkyl opt. subst. by OH or o-alkyl, or R3 + R4 = (CH2)n where n = 2 or 3 and R5 = H, are active as antihypertensives. (I) are prepd. by hydrolysis and rearrangement of the corresp. guanidino - alpha-cyanostyenes.
