Abstract
Systems, devices, and methods for continuous extrusion of material billets are provided. A die assembly for press extrusion of a material includes a plurality of die plates (4, 5, 6, 7) forming a die body (18). The die body (18) has an entrance (11) and an exit (81) having a diameter smaller than the entrance (110, with a tapered surface between the entrance (11) and the exit (81). Each die plate bas a center bore with a tapered interior surface, and the interior surfaces form the tapered surface that extends from the entrance (11) to the exit (81). A base (8) is coupled to the die body (18), and rotation of the base (8) causes rotation of the die body (18). A billet (17) pressed into the die body (18) is heated by friction between the interior surface and an outer surface of the billet (17). The billet (17) is heated to a deformable temperature and is extruded into a tube product as the billet (17) is pressed from the entrance (11) to the exit (81) of the die body (18).
