Abstract
The invention provides a coated tool including a base that has a surface coated with a diamond-like carbon film, the diamond-like carbon film having a nanoindentation hardness of from 50 GPa to 100 GPa, a hydrogen atom content and a nitrogen atom content in the diamond-like carbon film decreasing from a side closer to the base along a thickness direction, and a surface of the diamond-like carbon film having a hydrogen atom content of 0.5% by atom or less and a nitrogen atom content of 2% by atom or less.
