Abstract
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A GLASS SUBSTRATE FOR HARD DISK DRIVE One aspect of the present invention is a method of manufacturing a glass substrate for HDD, wherein, in a glass blank immediately prior to a chemical reinforcing step, in a case where the amount of retardation from a cross-section is measured when the glass blank has been cut into the shape of a strip in a direction perpendicular to the main surface thereof, the difference between a first maximum value of the amount of retardation per unit optical path length in a range from one main surface to 10 µm, and a second maximum value of the amount of retardation per unit optical path length in a range from the other main surface to 10 µm, is 10 nm/mm or less.
