Abstract
GLASS SUBSTRATE FOR MAGNETIC DISC AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF A manufacturing method of a glass substrate for a magnetic disc according to the present invention includes steps of obtaining a glass substrate having at least a main surface and an edge surface, a substantially toric shape, carrying out chemical strengthening, and carrying out mirror polishing on the main surface so that ratio of thickness of the reinforcement stress layer to be removed (B) to the thickness of the reinforcement stress layer formed after the chemical strengthening (A) (B/A) X 100 becomes between 0.5 and 3% on the main surface and the edge surface of the glass substrate after chemical strengthening.
