Abstract
A process for separating a selected gas from a gas stream is provided. The process includes heating aid gas stream and separating the gas stream into a selected-gas rich fraction and a selected-gas lean fraction, by a separator leading to formation of gas hydrates in both fraction ; passing the gas hydrates through a gas compressor and passes through a heat exchanger to obtain gas hydrates at ambient temperature and high pressure; passing the gas hydrates at ambient temperature and high pressure through a heat exchanger to obtain high pressure gas hydrates at low temperature; passing low temperature high pressure gas hydrates through a liquid trap and then through a reactor to obtain gas hydrate slurry; passing the gas hydrate slurry through hot slurry lines to obtain a two-phase stream of gas and liquid water; separating the two phase- stream in the separator where the selected-gas rich stream leaves from the top of separator and water returns to the process from the bottom of the separator; wherein the reactor is placed inside a thermostated bath that provides cold conditions for hydrate formation.
