A SHADOW MASK FRAME WELDING APPARATUS FOR A CATHODE RAY TUBE IS DISCLOSED, WHICH COMPRISES AN ACTUATOR (15) HAVING AN ACTUATOR ARM (15A), ONE OR A PAIR OF GUIDE RODS (14) SECURED TO THE ACTUATOR (15), A GROUNDED ELECTRODE (17) INSTALLED SO AS TO BE DISPLACED BY THE ACTUATOR ARM (15A), A CHARGE ELECTRODE TIP (13) MOUNTED ON THE GUIDE RODS (14), A SUPPORT (17A) ALLOWING THE SLIDING ACTION OF THE ACTUATOR ARM (15A) AND THE GUIDE RODS (14) AND A BASE (11) FOR SUPPORTING ALL THE CONSTITUENTS. IN THE APPARATUS, THE PRECISE POSITION (WELDING POINT) WHERE THE TWO ELECTRODES (17), (13) MAKE CONTACT IS AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLED BY THE PISITINING OF THE ITEMS TO BE WELDED, THEREBY OBVIATING EXCESSIVE LOADING SUCH AS CONTACT SHOCK.
