Abstract
Metodos para descontaminar desecho toxico, particularmente materiales portadores solidos tales como tierra contaminada con toxina o desechos mixtos solidos se descontaminan mas eficientemente con electrones solvatados al extraer primero la toxina del portador con una base nitrogenosa a temperaturas elevadas, seguido por una reduccion de temperatura antes de iniciar la reduccion quimica de la toxina con electrones solvatados. Pre-extraccion de la toxina a temperaturas elevadas seguida por reduccion de temperatura, minimiza reacciones secundarias de competencia, mejora la selectividad de los electrones solvatados para la toxina y mejora la economia del proceso con una utilizacion de metal mas eficiente. El proceso puede realizarse sin separacion de la toxina del recipiente de extraccion que contiene el material portador solido. En forma alterna, pueden utilizarse temperaturas elevadas para realizar una o mas extracciones de toxina con base nitrogenosa, seguido por reduccion con electrones solvatados al realizar la reaccion en un reactor separado. Los proceso de la presente invencion son utiles en la destruccion virtualmente de cualquier substancia nociva quimicamente reducible.
