Abstract
Compuestos de la formula (I): en donde uno de m y n es 0, y el otro es 0, 1 o 2; k es 0 o un entero de 1 a 12; R1 es hidrogeno, uno de los substituyentes A, que se define más adelante, u opcionalmente un grupo alquilo substituido, A representa un solo enlace, un átomo de oxígeno, un grupo carbonilo o un grupo de formula -N(R2)CO-, -N(R2)C, -N(R2)SO2-, -CON(R2)N(R3)CO-, -CON(R2)CO-, -CON(R2)CS, -CON(R2)SO2-, -O-CO-, -ON(R2)CO-, -ON(R2)CO-, -ON(RW)SO2-, -O-CON(R2)N(R3)CO-, -O-CON(R2)CO-, -O-CON(R2)SO2-, -CO-O-, -CO-CO-, -CO-CON(R2)N(R3)CO-, -CO-CON(R2)CO-, -CO-CON(R2)SO2, -N(R2)O-, -N(R2)COCO-, -N(R2)N(R3)CO-, -N(R2)N(R3)SO2 -N(R2)CON(R3)N(R4)CO-, -N(R2)CON(R3)CO-, -N(R2)CON(R3SO2, o N(R2)CON(R3)SOWN(R4)CO-, en donde R2, R3 y R4 son los mismos o diferentes y cada uno es hidrogeno, alquilo, arilo, aralquilo, acilo o uno de los substituyentes A; B es un solo enlace, o un grupo de la formula -N(R5)- o N(R6)N(R5)- en donde R5 y R6 son los mismos o diferentes y cada uno es hidrogeno, alquilo, arilo, aralquilo, acilo o uno de los substituyentes A, o R5 junto con R1 y el átomo de nitrogeno al cual están unidos, puede formar un anillo heterocíclico que tiene de 5 a 7 átomos en el anillo; o R1 puede representar un grupo de la formula OR7, en la cual R7 es alquilo, alquenilo, aralquilo o uno de los substituyentes A; o R1 puede representar un grupo hidroxilo o un grupo de la formula -OR7; y dichos substituyentes A se seleccionan de grupos arilo y grupos heterocíclicos y sales farmacéuticamente aceptables de los mismos que tiene una excelente capacidad para incrementar la actividad de la glutation reductasa y por lo tanto se pueden usar para el tratamiento o prevencion de una variedad de enfermedades, incluyendo cataratas.
