Los nuevos derivados de pirimidina y piridina de la formula general (I), (Ver Formula) en donde A representa un grupo arilo opcionalmente sustituido, o un grupo heteroaromático que contiene nitrogeno, de 5 a 6 miembros, opcionalmente sustituido, o un grupo difluorobenzodioxolilo; m representa un entero desde 0 a 5; n representa un entero desde 0 a 2; R1 (o cada R1) independientemente representa un átomo de hidrogeno, un átomo de halogeno, un grupo alquilo, alquenilo, alquinilo, alcoxi, alcoxialquilo, dialcoxialquilo, alcoxialcoxi, alquiltio, amino, alquilamino, dialquilamino, alcoxiamino, o formamidino opcionalmente sustituido; R2 (o cada R2) independientemente representa un átomo de hidrogeno, un átomo de halogeno, un grupo alquilo, alquenilo, alquinilo, alcoxi, alquiltio, alquilsulfonilo, o alquilsulfinilo opcionalmente sustituido, o un grupo nitro, ciano, haloalquilo, haloalcoxi, o haloalquiltio; X representa un átomo de oxígeno o azufre; y Z representa un átomo de nitrogeno o un grupo CH; con las condiciones de que si A representa un grupo 1-metil-3-triflfluormeitl-pirazol-5-ilo, n es 0, X representa un átomo de oxígeno, y Z representa un grupo Ch; entonces R2m no representa hidrogeno o 3-trifluorometilo o 2,4-dicloro o 2,4-dimetilo se pueden preparar mediante métodos convencionales y son particularmente utiles como herbicidas.
