Abstract

Un material de filosilicato se exfolia por medio del mezclado del filosilicato con agua y un solvente para un oligomero o polímero insoluble en agua que es sorbido o unido electrostáticamente a las superficies internas de las plaquetas de filosilicato después de la exfoliacion del filosilicato. El intercalado y la exfoliacion pueden lograrse por medio del contacto del filosilicato con un solvente orgánico y agua para unir eléctricamente una o más partes polares del solvente orgánico o un cation metálico en las superficies internas de la plaqueta, de modo que después de la evaporacion del agua utilizada para el intercalado del solvente orgánico entre las plaquetas de filosilicato, las plaquetas no se colapsen entonces, sino que permanezcan exfoliadas. Después de la exfoliacion del filosilicato, las plaquetas exfoliadas se ponen en contacto con una composicion de polímero/portador que incluye un polímero en agua o un oligomero insoluble en agua y un solvente para el polímero u oligomero insoluble en agua. Después de exfoliar al filosilicato y antes del contacto con el polímero, las plaquetas individuales de filosilicato se ponen en contacto con la composicion de polímero/portador para sorber al polímero insoluble en agua o al oligomero insoluble en agua sobre una o ambas superficies de las plaquetas de filosilicato exfoliadas y expulsar al solvente adherido.
