Abstract
Se describe un aparato y un método para verificar periodicamente los cambios estructurales de un electrodo en una batería recargable, que incluye una celda electroquímica (30) de rayos X, in situ, que comprende miembros de celda superior e inferior (32, 34) incluyendo al menos un elemento (36) de ventana de berilio para la transmision de la radiacion X del difractometro. Una batería recargable (43) montada dentro del alojamiento de la celda de rayos X comprende un electrolito/elemento separador (68) interpuesto entre los electrodos positivo y negativo (64, 66). Un elemento recolector de corriente (70) formado de una rejilla de malla abierta, electricamente conductora, está colocado entre el electrodo positivo y el separador, para hacer posible el contacto de conduccion de iones del electrodo y el separador, al tiempo que se mantiene la continuidad eléctrica entre el electrodo y una terminal externa (54) de la celda de rayos X. Como resultado de este arreglo, el electrodo positivo no necesita entrar en contacto con elemento ventana para establecer un circuito de batería eléctrica, pero puede estar suficientemente separado de la ventana para evitar la corrosion electrolítica del elemento de berilio. La celda electroquímica de rayos X in situ y la estructura de batería permiten la verificacion periodica continua de los cambios estructurales en los materiales de electrodo durante el ciclo de carga/descarga.
