Abstract
Un método para producir carburo de hierro poniendo en contacto mineral de hierro con un gas reductor que contiene hidrogeno y compuesto de carbono a elevada temperatura de reaccion y a una presion de reaccion igual a la atmosférica o más alta, para reducir y carburizar el mineral de hierro con la participacion de un componente de azufre, método que incluye medir la temperatura de reaccion, presion parcial del hidrogeno, P(H2), y presion parcial de sulfuro de hidrogeno, P(H2S), contenidos en el gas reductor, calcular la actividad del azufre, as, en el gas reductor a partir de la Ecuacion (1) mostrada después, y ajustar la presion parcial del sulfuro de hidrogeno P(H2S) en el gas reductor para obtener as = 1,0 a 2,0 a temperaturas de reaccion de 550 degreeC y por encima de ella pero inferiores a 650 degreeC, as = 0,7 a 2,0 a 650 degree8C, y as = 0,05 a 1,0 por encima de 650 degreeC y hasta 950 degreeC: as = (P(H2S)/P(H2))/(P(H2S)/P(H2))E donde (P(H2S)/P(H2)) representa la relacion entre las presiones parciales de H2S y H2 en el gas reductor y (P(H2S)/P(H2) E es la relacion entre las presiones parciales de H2S y H2 en un estado en el que la reaccion de la Ecuacion (2) siguiente está en equilibrio: FeS(s) + H2 (g) = Fe(s) + H2S(g) donde (s) y (g) representan fases solida y gaseosa, respectivamente. El método incluye, además el control de la presion de reaccion a presion atmosférica o por encima de ella en relacion con el gas oxidante contenido en un gas reductor a una temperatura de reaccion de 650 degreeC o más.
