Abstract

Una dispersion de pigmento util para formar composiciones de revestimiento acuosas que contienen pigmento en hojuelas o laminillas metálicas, un portador acuoso y un dispersante o disolvente de copolímero de injerto (sustancia aglutinante); en donde el copolímero de injerto tiene un peso molecular promedio en peso de aproximadamente 5,000-100,000 y comprende una estructura polimérica y cadenas laterales de macromonomeros unidas a la estructura, en donde (1) la estructura polimérica se forma de monomeros etilénicamente insaturados, polimerizados y (2) las cadenas laterales son macromonomeros que están unidos a la estructura en un punto de terminacion individual y se forman de monomeros etilénicamente insaturados, polimerizados que se polimerizan en la presencia de un agente de transferencia de cadena de cobalto y tienen un peso molecular promedio en peso de aproximadamente 1,000-30,000; en donde el copolímero de injerto contiene aproximadamente 2 a 70% en peso, en base al peso del copolímero de injerto, de constituyente polimerizados que tienen una porcion de fosfato y porciones de ácido fosforico que se polimerizan en la estructura, las cadenas laterales o ambas y el polímero se neutralizan con una base inorgánica o una amina; y el pigmento en hojuelas o laminillas metálicas está presente en una relacion en peso de sustancia aglutinante a pigmento de menos de 10/100; las composiciones de revestimiento que contienen la dispersion novedosa, el copolímero de injerto y el procedimiento para hacer los dispersiones del copolímero de injerto y el pigmento son parte de la invencion.
