Abstract

Métodos para identificar organismos capaces de degradar fumonisina. La fumonisina puede ser incorporada dentro del medio de cultivo para seleccion del organismo resistencia a la fumonisina y capaz de crecer en fumonisina como la unica fuente de carbono. Varios organismos han sido identificados al usar este método. Estos organismos pueden ser usados para aislar la enzima y el gen responsable de conferir la resistencia a la fumonisina. El gen puede ser clonado e insertado dentro de un vector de expresion apropiado para que la proteína pueda caracterizarse ulteriormente. Adicionalmente, el DNA que codifica la resistencia a la fumonisina puede ser usado para transformar células de plantas normalmente susceptibles al Fusarium u otras infecciones de hongos que producen toxinas. Las plantas pueden ser regeneradas a partir de células de plantas transformadas. De esta forma, puede ser producida una planta transgénica con la capacidad de degradar fumonisina, así como también con la capacidad de producir la enzimas degradantes. Se divulgan métodos de desintoxicacion en el procedimiento de granos y alimento para animales y microbios de herbarios.
