Abstract

Los métodos y composiciones para medir la longitud de un telomero tienen aplicaciones en procedimientos de diagnostico, pronostico y terapéuticos. Estos métodos para medir la longitud de un telomero incluyen métodos basados en la extension del oligonucleotido original y métodos basados en sondas. Los métodos de extension del oligonucleotido original implican el alargamiento de los oligonucleotidos primarios teloméricos, enlazadores y/o subteloméricos, bajo condiciones tales que el telomero, sirva como un modelo para la extension del oligonucleotido original y que los productos de extension resultantes de este oligonucléotido original se puedan comparar a productos estándar de longitud conocida, para suministrar una medida de la longitud del telomero.
