Abstract

Se describe un aparato para colectar, separar, probar y almacenar pequeñas cantidades de sangre u otro fluido sanguíneo in situ. El aparato incluye una cámara de recoleccion que está en union a tope con un filtro hecho de una lámina delgada de material fibroso que tiene un tamaño de poro promedio de menos de 3 micras. El material fibroso se ha tratado con una mezcla que contiene 1-40% en peso/volumen de carbohidrato y 0.1-15% en peso/vol. de proteína no específica. Una mezcla de carbohidrato/proteína, preferida, comprende aproximadamente 10% de manitol y aproximadamente 6% de albumina. La sangre u otro fluido se mueve a través de la tarjeta de filtro por la accion capilar ayudada por una matriz absorbente con un alto factor de Klemm que colinda con la tarjeta de filtro. La matriz absorbente y/o la tarjeta de filtro se pueden tratar con amplio espectro de reactivos de prueba. La velocidad y eficiencia del proceso de separacion se puede alterar: (a) al cambiar la concentracion del carbohidrato/proteína de la mezcla; (b) al aplicar presion en un lado del filtro; y/o (c) al variar la densidad relativa y el tamaño de poro de la tarjeta de filtro y la matriz absorbente.
