Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a un sistema de modulacion codificada trellis que comprende una fuente de símbolos de datos X1, X2, de 2 bitios, sucesivos, arreglados en un formato de cuadros en donde cada cuadro comprende una pluralidad de segmentos de datos cada uno de los cuales incluye una pluralidad de grupos de símbolos de datos intercalados. Cada grupo de símbolos de datos intercalados se codifica separadamente a través de un precodificador (32a) y un codificador de convolucion (32b) para derivar símbolos de salida codificados Z0, Z1, Z2, de los cuales se levanta o construye un mapa de símbolos respectivos de 8 niveles, para la transmision en forma conjunta con símbolos para la sincronizacion de segmentos y cuadros, generados periodicamente. La señal recibida se puede filtrar mediante un filtro lineal (42), por ejemplo un filtro de características en peine (42), para reducir la interferencia de canal comun y cada grupo de símbolos filtrados se aplica a un primer descodificador Viterbi (44) respectivo, para estimar datos de bitios X1, X2. Cada primer descodificador (44) comprende preferentemente un descodificador Viterbi de complejidad reducida (44) sensible a una representacion parcial del estado de filtro lineal (42). Cada grupo de símbolos recibidos puede aplicarse también directamente a un segundo descodificador Viterbi respectivo (46) para estimar los bitios de datos X1, X2. Los bitios de datos estimados X1, X2 del primer o segundo descodificadores (44 o 46) se seleccionan para el procesamiento adicional.
