Abstract

El mineral, que contiene oro y por lo menos uno de los metales plata, cobre, níquel, cinc o hierro, es calcinado a temperaturas del orden entre 500 y 900 degree C, añadiendo un gas que contiene oxígeno, formándose así una mezcla de materias solidas, que contienen oxidos metálicos, y un gas de escape que contiene SO2. El gas de escape que contiene SO2 es puesto en contacto con una solucion acuosa, produciéndose una solucion que contiene sulfito. La mezcla de materias solidas procedentes de la calcinacion es enfriada hasta temperaturas de entre 50 y 300 degree C y se mezcla por agitacion con la solucion que contiene sulfito. De este modo se disuelven los oxidos metálicos y se forma una solucion que contiene sulfato. En una primera zona de separacion se separa de los materias solidas la solucion que contiene sulfato y se conducen las materias solidas hasta un dispositivo de lixiviacion del oro o bien se continua tratando la solucion que contiene sulfato para separar los metales no férricos.
