La presente invencion se relaciona con substratos de vidrio, destinados para utilizarse como soportes en unidades de almacenado de datos, reforzados mediante intercambios de iones superficiales y cuya matriz comprende los constituyentes a continuacion, en las proporciones ponderales siguientes: SIO2 DE 45% A 64$; AL203 DE 0% A 20%; B203 DE 0% A 5%; NA20 DE 4$ A 12%; K20 DE 3.5% A 12%; MGO DE 0% A 8%; CAO DE 0% A 13; ZRO2 DE 0% A 20%. La suma de los oxidos SIO2, AL203 Y ZRO2 permanece igual o inferior a 70%; esa composicion comprende eventualmente los oxidos BAO y/o SRO en proporciones tales como: 11% igual o inferior a MGO+CAO+BAO+SRO igual o inferior a 24%. Los oxidos alcalinos se introducen segun porcentajes ponderales tales como: 0.22 igual o inferior a NA2O/NA20+K20 igual o inferior a 0.60.
