Abstract

En la presente invencion se describe un método para la asignacion de velocidad dentro de conmutadores individuales de una red de comunicaciones que implementa un planteamiento de control de la congestion en base a la velocidad para el tráfico de mejor esfuerzo. La metodología de la invencion se centra en un nuevo algoritmo de asignacion de velocidad que realiza sus funciones de asignacion independiente del numero de conexiones que comparte un enlace de la red y por lo tanto realiza una asignacion el tiempo (1). Con esta simplicidad de implementacion, el algoritmo es particularmente ventajoso para la implementacion en conmutadores de ATM que llevan un gran numero de canales virtuales. El algoritmo opera en la informacion del ancho de banda suministrada por la fuente de una conexion de celdas especiales o partes superiores de paquetes, tal como las celdas de manejo de recursos de ATM. Para almacenar los valores de los parámetros para otras conexiones que comparten un enlace de la red, el algoritmo requiere un numero constante de cálculos simples para cada peticion de una conexion para una asignacion de ancho de banda. El algoritmo es de naturaleza asincronica y distribuida y converge a la asignacion por equidad máxima-mínima, G60.
