Abstract
Un electrodo, para una antorcha de plasma, comprende plaquetas multiples que se apilan juntas. Las plaquetas tienen aberturas que se orientan para formar un barreno a través del electrodo, adaptado para generar un arco de plasma. Estas plaquetas tienen también aberturas dispuestas para formar multiples canales de refrigerante a través del electrodo. Estos canales de refrigerante están inmediatamente adyacentes al barreno y se extienden substancialmente por toda la longitud del barreno. Esto aumenta el área de transferencia térmica entre el refrigerante líquido que fluye a través de los canales y el arco de plasma caliente dentro del barreno, para reducir la temperatura de la superficie expuesta del electrodo, aumentando así el tiempo de vida de este electrodo. Un segundo juego de pasajes puede existir dentro del electrodo, para inyectar gas a través de la pared del electrodo en la superficie del barreno.
