Abstract
In order to improve the properties and increase the useful life of a pouring ladle gate which is made of refractory concrete, a pre-fabricated refractory concrete ring (9) concentrically surrounding an outlet channel (6), is inserted in a mold (1), the mold is subsequently filled with pasty refractory concrete (4), the compressed concrete is poured, dried and impregnated with a carbon conductor by pressure-impregnation. The carbon conductor, which penetrates the sealing surface of the pouring ladle gate, is then fissured by a thermic treatment in a reduced atmosphere, with carbon being separated during the process. A vacuum-treatment may be performed one or several times during the manufacturing process if deemed necessary. As a result of the ring (9) insertion and steps of the process previously described, the sliding surface of the pouring ladle gate comprises outstanding utility properties and, at the same time, the pre-fabricated ring is able to compensate for high thermic strains produced at the outlet channel (6) area. (Figure 1).
