Abstract
Un sistema de comunicación (105), utiliza el sistema de posicionamiento global (SPG) para mantener un alto grado de precisión de sincronización de estaciones base (115-116). Cuando la señal de SPG (106, 107 ó 108) está ausente, el sistema de comunicación (105) emplea una señal alternativa (110, 113), tal como una señal WWVB, LORAN-C y MSF, para proporcionar sincronización redundante de las estaciones base (115, 116). Para alcanzar el grado de precisión de sincronización proporcionado por la señal de SGP (106, 108), el sistema de comunicación (105) caracteriza la señal alternativa (110, 113) mediante la utilización de la señal de SPG (106, 108). Cuando está ausente la señal de SPG (106-108), se emplea entonces la señal alternativa caracterizada, de tal manera que la sincronización de las estaciones base (115-116) es transparente para las estaciones base (115, 116).
