Abstract

En un método y aparato para detectar defectos de pliegues en una llanta neumática, se obtienen mediciones en la llanta obtenidos a dos niveles de inflado de la llanta y se comparan los datos obtenidos en las dos mediciones. Las cuerdas de refuerzo para el rompimiento en la llanta, provocan cambios en los picos de los datos obtenidos en las dos inflaciones, es decir fuera de la proporción cuando se comparan con los cambios de los datos observados en llantas sin dañar. El aparato de la invención proporciona elementos para inflar llantas a presiones predeterminadas y tiene detectores de desplazamiento para medir los picos y valles en la pared lateral de una llanta. El aparato también puede incluir una computadora para recolectar los datos, analizar los datos y proporcionar una señal cuando se reconoce que una llanta está defectuosa.
