Abstract

Una composición de organoarcilla donde una arcilla de filosilicato es intercambiada con iones de amonio cuaternario que tienen una fórmula de [NR1R2R3R4]+ en donde por lo menos uno de R1, R2 y R3 es una mezcla de grupos alquilo ramificados. Composiciones de organoarcilla exhiben diferentes propiedades comparadas con composiciones de organoarcilla de la técnica anterior intercambiadas con iones de amonio cuaternario que tienen una fórmula de [NRaRbRcRd]+ donde por lo menos uno de Ra, Rb, Rc y Rd no es una mezcla de grupos alquilo ramificados, sino un grupo alquilo ramificado simple, como 12-metilestearilo, que tiene un punto de ramificación ubicado en una posición simple junto con la estructura principal lineal del grupo alquilo ramificado.
