Abstract

Se pueden recuperar metales alcalinos (126) y azufre (128) un partir de monosulfuros y polisulfuros alcalinos (122) mediante un procedimiento electrolítico que utiliza una celda electrolítica (120) que tiene una membrana conductiva de ión de metal alcalino. Una solución de anolito incluye un monosulfuro de metal alcalino, un polisulfuro de metal alcalino, o una mezcla de éstos, y un solvente que disuelve azufre elemental. Un catolito incluye metal alcalino derretido. Si se aplica una corriente se oxidan el sulfuro y el polisulfuro se oxidan en el compartimiento del anolito, se mueven los iones del metal alcalino al pasar a través de la membrana conductiva del ion de metal alcalino al compartimiento del catolito, y se reducen los iones de metal alcalino en el compartimiento del catolito. El azufre líquido se separa de la solución de anolito y puede ser recuperado.
