Abstract

La invención también se relaciona a un proceso para la eliminación de contaminantes de un licor, el proceso que comprende: introducir un hidróxido de metal o de amonio en el licor y burbujear un gas de dióxido de carbono que comprende al menos 25% de dióxido de carbono a través del licor para formar un precipitado por carbonatación en un periodo no mayor a 60 minutos y en donde el tamaño del precipitado puede ser al menos parcialmente controlado o controlable alterando el tiempo de residencia del licor en el recipiente de reacción o el pH del licor en el recipiente de reacción. Los procesos de carbonatación pueden incluirse en la refinación de azúcar o ablandamiento del agua y/o procesos de descontaminación. Se proporciona un uso de un gas de dióxido de carbono que comprende al menos 25% de dióxido de carbono en un proceso de carbonatación para eliminar contaminantes de un licor tratado con hidróxido, en donde el proceso forma un precipitado en un periodo no mayor de alrededor 60 minutos y en donde el tamaño del precipitado puede ser al menos parcialmente controlado o controlable alterando el tiempo de residencia del licor en el recipiente de reacción o el pH del licor en el recipiente de reacción.
