Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un método para incrementar la cantidad de carne de un animal alimentado con silaje que es alimentado con una ración terminal, al aumentar la relación aumento de peso: alimento (G:F) , caracterizado porque dicho método comprende: alimentar al animal con la ración terminal, en donde la ración terminal comprende silaje en una cantidad entre aproximadamente 15% y 30% de la materia seca en la dieta del animal, en donde el silaje se produce a partir de una variedad de planta de maíz de nervadura central marrón (BMR) que exhibe un contenido disminuido de lignina, en donde la ración terminal no comprende maíz en grano, en donde la relación G:F del animal se incrementa, en comparación con la relación G:F de un animal de la misma especie que es alimentado con una ración terminal que comprende una cantidad equivalente de silaje producido a partir de una planta de maíz que tienen un contenido de lignina de tipo silvestre.
