Abstract

Un sistema de monitoreo inalámbrico que comprende un recurso a distancia sobre el cual datos son recolectados y un dispositivo inalámbrico de transferencia de datos conectado al recurso a distancia. El dispositivo inalámbrico incluye un transceptor de radiofrecuencia y un chip que tiene una memoria para almacenar una pluralidad de identificadores de subscriptor o abonado correspondiente a las diferentes redes inalámbricas y para además almacenamiento lógico que constituye las reglas de selección de red, para seleccionar una de las redes inalámbricas a utilizarse para la transmisión de los datos. En una implementación GSM/UMTS de esta tecnología, el identificador de subscriptor o abonado es el IMSI y el chip es un chip o tarjeta de Módulo de Identidad del Subscriptor (SIM). Mediante el uso de múltiples IMSI´s, el dispositivo de transferencia de datos inalámbrico conectado al recurso a distancia, puede cambiar o conmutar sin problemas (de forma óptima) entre redes inalámbricas. Una nueva IMSI (para una nueva red) puede ser suministrada por el aire para permitir que el dispositivo se comunique a través de una nueva red, para la cual no se tenía previamente una IMSI.
