Abstract

A method, apparatus and computer program are provided in order to manage dormancy timers for a mobile terminal (204) communicating in a wireless network. In this regard, the method, apparatus, and computer program may utilize a mobile terminal (204) to communicate with a wireless station (202). The mobile terminal (204) and wireless station (202) may transmit and receive data (304) from one another via a wireless network. When the mobile terminal (204) is preparing to end a data transmission operation, the terminal (204) may communicate such to the wireless station (202) via an end of data signal (306). When the wireless station (202) receives the communication and completes transmission to the mobile terminal (204), the wireless station (202) may send a dormancy signal (308) to the mobile terminal (204) indicating that the mobile terminal (204) should proceed directly to a second dormancy state, bypassing one or more inactivity timers.
