Abstract

Se describe un material termoplástico y en particular un forro para un cable eléctrico y más en particular un forro para un cable eléctrico de THHN, que incluye un material base de poliamida, un elastómero de silicio y un polímero de etileno modificado con un anhídrido de diácido alifático insaturado. El elastómero de silicio no migra a través del forro. El forro tiene un coeficiente de fricción más bajo que un cable con un forro que no tiene un elastómero de silicio incorporado en el mismo y el cable resultante requiere menos fuerza para instalar que un cable sin un lubricante incorporado en el mismo. El cable también tiene resistencia a la flama mejorada y propiedades de alargamiento a la ruptura mejorada. También se describen métodos para la fabricación de estos materiales termoplásticos.
