Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento mejorado para la polimerización del cloruro de vinilo, en un recipiente de reacción en el cual existe la fase gaseosa en la región superior del recipiente, caracterizado en que, por lo menos, durante parte de la reacción, la pared interna que define la región superior del recipiente es lavada continuamente con agua bajo una presión relativamente baja, de preferencia de,, por lo menos, 15 kg/cm cuadrado, el lavado con agua a una presión relativamente baja comienza antes de que se haya realizado el 25 por ciento de la conversión del monómero o monómeros, y cuando la reacción se haya completado se somete la pared interna que define la región superior del reactor a la acción de agua bajo presión relativamente elevada, de preferencia de, por lo menos, 100 kg/cm cuadrado, con el objeto de retirar los depósitos residuales de esa región.
